Sylvia Le Roy
Artist Statement:
Art is a gift that keeps on giving. I paint to show the beauty and significance of the gifts natural world bless us with every day. A painting that hangs on your wall sends a gift each time you see it. Paintings in galleries the world over are filled with the works of artists who have given the gift of their art to the world and their gifts keep on giving to the living long after they are gone. I want to celebrate and honour your love of animals, flowers, and nature. I paint in a realist style sometimes taking months to complete a work. All of nature that I has inspired my work needs to be protected and cherished. In rendering them my hope is that you will connect with my painting subjects and in turn my work can make your life more meaningful and will bring attention to the value of the natural world so we can join together in protecting it.
Artist Bio:
Sylvia Le Roy was born in the Canadian prairies, where the sun shines brightly to the low horizons. She chose to enter a career in education and placed her art interest on the second tier. Although she continued to draw and paint throughout her working life, she vowed to make art her priority after early retirement.
She has always lived close to nature. Since moving to Toronto she studied art full time for eight years and has continued to study with leaders in the field. She creates art in oils, acrylics and watercolour and also has a love of stone carving and printmaking. I have made it important in my practice to produce work made with materials of the highest quality while following the historical rules to create work that is archival. Anyone who purchases her artwork can be assured they are purchasing a piece of art which will last for generations.
You can find her work in the shows of local clubs in the GTA: Don Valley Art Club, The Art Guild of Scarborough, and the Beach Guild of Fine Art.
