Bright Reflection

Bright Reflection, 8 x 10 Oil, image 3.5 x 5.5

Born in Vienna, Austria, Christine settled in Canada in 1964. Her love of the Canadian landscape and her European  back- ground  influence all aspects of her art. Christine works in most media and is inspired by the beautiful Canadian country side. Her works are executed as detailed and semi abstract nature scenes, florals and her miniature oil  paintings are created with a palette knife only. This technique is very suited to the rugged Canadian landscape and makes each piece of artwork unique. The contemporary mixed media art combined with her detailed work gives her paintings a unusual contrast.

Although Christine participates actively in a cultural and artistic life, most of her works are created at her Haliburton retreat near Algonquin Park.

In general most of her paintings are of Canadian landscapes, her watercolours are florals, historical landmarks, landscapes and for many years, her work was detailed, familiar and traditional. Now some of her art represents intuitive interpretations of nature-based abstracts: swirling masses of water, enormous mountains, Northern lights and tiny images using inks, oils and mixed media.

Christine’s interest in art led to attending classes at the Agincourt and Wexford Collegiate Art Centre and many workshops over the years. Her work is represented in private collections in Canada, USA, Europe and Japan.

She enters many public and juried art exhibitions and her paintings have won many awards of excellence.
