Looks like Fall – Col Danforth, 14 x 17 Watercolour
“Life always seemed to get in the way of me doing the things I wanted to do.” – Derreck Liberty
Derrek’s journey into the world of art began back in 2005. Upon his retirement he enrolled in classes at Cedar Ridge Community Centre. Derreck began by painting landscapes and still life in watercolour. He was later introduced to portraiture and life drawing, where he started using pastels and charcoal.
Over the years Derreck has attended many workshops and classes that have helped in his endeavours to improve his skills. He has also had the opportunity to be taught by, and to draw with, some amazing and talented artists. Derreck continues to explore the world of art, always working towards a more creative piece.
When he’s drawing/painting people, Derreck tries to express movement and emotion. When he’s drawing/painting landscapes, Derreck tries to express mood and movement through colour and value. With emotion and movement at the base of his art, he continues to try to lose himself in his work and experience the piece as it is created.
Derreck is looking forward to many years ahead of learning/experiencing more than the world of art can offer.
