Artist Bio:
I am a watercolour and oil painting artist based in East York, Ontario. I began my artistic journey in California as a young child of ten given instruction in drawing, watercolour painting at various community centres near my childhood home of Costa Mesa.
Currently, I am studying watercolour painting techniques at Melinda Calways’s private studio.
I studied various oil painting techniques with Shye Zhang at her private studio based in the Scarborough Bluffs until June 2024. I have dabbled with acrylics, but find my true loves are watercolour and oil painting.
I am drawn to painting animals, birds and nature while working with two wildlife photographers: One is based in Toronto and the other is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Through Shye Zhang’s guidance, I was exploring human and animal portraiture with oil painting. I would say that my style is based on Realism. I’m starting to explore abstract ways of painting as I tend to be very detailed in my work.
I am honoured to say that one of my watercolour paintings titled American Goldfinches in Winter was accepted to be on the front cover of the RTO Annual Symposium document in 2018. I had the honour of having three of my paintings juried and accepted for inclusion in April 2024’s Spring Show and Art sale.
I am a more recent member of the Art Guild of Scarborough, having joined in September 2023. Being a member of this group has greatly contributed to my growth as a visual artist.
