Artist Bio:

I am inspired by all the beauty around us, in nature, and in people. I love sunrises, sunsets, flowers growing in gardens and fields, the snow, forests, and especially trees. I feel an affinity for trees, earth’s air purifiers; their beauty, variety, colour and unique shapes. They are truly magnificent!  I feel so fortunate to live in this world of beauty and I want to share my insight through watercolour paintings. I chose watercolour because of its luscious, transparence and its ability to show an infinite variety of vibrant colours.

I graduated with honours from the 3 year, post-secondary program at “The Art Centre” in Toronto — studies included drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, illustration, photography and graphic design. I was so please to have subjects that I had a natural disposition toward and enjoyed doing homework! I then worked as a graphic designer as I began teaching… only to find as terrified as I was at the start, I had a knack for this teaching thing.

I taught visual art to gifted children through the Board of Education, Art classes to teachers & students in elementary school and photography to adults. For the past 17 years I’ve focused on instructing watercolour & drawing classes for adults as well as doing my own painting. I love teaching. I find it rewarding to share what I’ve learned. What’s the point of continuing learning if it can’t be shared? I also love to learn and continually take courses and workshops to give me different perspectives and new ideas both on painting and teaching.

I see my art as a moment in time captured and shared, through my eyes. I enjoy colour and make my watercolour paintings vibrant with rich colour. I do like detail and strive for the right combination of looseness and detail to offset and strengthen my work.
