Artist Bio:
I have been on a journey that I think many artists go on. It is a journey that begins with copying, then incorporating, then emulating – and then finally creating. The stage I think I am in is between emulating and creating something original.
I have drawn inspiration from a lot of eclectic sources; nature landscapes, urban scenes, ally ways and roof tops, cars, street art, wild life, famous people, comics, fantasy and science fiction. I like to find beauty in unexpected places and things. I am very much inspired by great artists like Tom Thompson and the Group of Seven, Alphonse Mucha, European impressionists, Erin Hanson, Armand Tatossian, Marcel Deloreme, Roger Ricard and many, many others.
I started to draw and paint at an early age and am primarily self taught, though I have started to take some lessons recently. I mostly work in three types of media; pencil, coloured pencil and acrylic. I have tried a bit of oils, water colour, clay and sculpting. I have been fortunate to sell some of my work but so far, I have painted mostly for myself, family and friends.
I am a mechanical engineer by education, and worked for General Motors for 41 years mostly in management. During that time, I worked on many creative endeavors and now hold a few patents. I have had the chance to see a good part of the world and worked with many cultures. I am hoping to spend a lot more time painting now that have retired and turn my passion for art into a second career. I am recent member of the Art Guild of Scarborough and it is wonderful to share my passion with like minded people.
I hope you enjoy my work – stay tuned as I plan to getting a website up and running.
