Artist Bio:
What better way to spend one’s free time than to be involved in artistic pursuits. I must admit, however, that “free time” is pretty much now lost as this pursuit has taken over.
I’ve been actively involved in life drawing and painting since the early 2000’s – initially starting with life drawing, then painting in acrylics and now exclusively in oils, sometimes adding cold wax to the mix. I’ve taken various life drawing and portrait classes at the Varley Art Gallery in Markham; I’ve also practiced portraiture painting in open studios and attended plein air workshops with different instructors.
My subjects range from portraits to landscapes and still lifes, portraiture with live models having always been close to my heart. However, from early spring to late fall, my favourite pastime is plein air landscape painting and road trips scouting for painting locations and subjects.
I consider myself a lifelong student. I cherish my painting friends with the same enthusiasm and encouragement. No better motivation than peers nudging each other should a break without a brush in hand stretch past a couple of weeks, or less.
I’ve been featured in juried and non-juried gallery & online shows.
As my artistic pursuits continue my style is bound to evolve along the journey.
