Gary was classically trained in singing so it was only natural that being classically trained in painting was an easy decision. Taking private lessons and numerous workshops at the Academy of Realists Art in Toronto was the start of his training. Realism and trompe l’oeil images combined with portraying a mood within the painting is always his goal. His strategy with each painting is to spend the time on each element within the painting and fall in love with each painting before putting it on display.
Gary enjoys painting in oil and has lately enjoyed working with Scratchboard which is drawing and engraving images on a black inked board.
As president of The Art Guild of Scarborough for the last five years Gary has taken joy in bringing to its members inspiring demonstrations by some of the most talented artists in Canada. Gary is a member of the Pine Ridge Arts Council. He has participated in juried shows with The Art Guild of Scarborough and shows throughout southern Ontario including Niagara-on-the-Lake, Unionville, and the Station Gallery in Whitby.
