Ginger Lilies and Bougainvillea, 18.25 x 14.25 Watercolour
Retirement has afforded me the opportunity to pursue my love of art. I was introduced to watercolour in Melinda Calway’s class where I also did drawing. I enjoy doing pencil portraits and strive to complete one annually. My next step in this journey is to add watercolour portraits to my portfolio of work.
Because I am a lifelong learner and enjoy being a student, I have also taken watercolour classes with Margaret Roseman where a ‘loose’ painting style encouraged. I’ve taken life drawing classes with David Wysotski as well as drawing classes with his wife Chrissie.
Encouraged by one of the students in Melinda’s class, I joined the Art Guild where I not only look forward to demos by various artists, but also the two exhibitions annually. In my first exhibition in 2018, I sold my first painting and I’m hopeful that I will have continued success at the shows. Family members and friends have copies of my art which can be found in Ontario, Quebec, New York, England and China.
Currently I like to paint subjects that are of interest, but will work towards becoming focused on few subjects. E.g. old houses from my childhood.
