Kay Minter

Storm

Storm, 8 x 10 Pencil

In the eighties, Kay Minter took part-time courses at AGO, The Toronto School of Art, and Central Technical School. While working full-time in business, she enjoyed creating original watercolour and silkscreened cards which were sold in boutique stores in the Beach, Yorkville and uptown Toronto areas. In the nineties, although her teaching career allowed little free time, she sketched and attended watercolour classes at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre. She credits her current success to the wonderful classes offered by teacher, mentor and friend, Bernice Harper. When Kay retired she began drawing and painting regularly.

Kay has studied with inspirational artists including Beverley Hulme, Sue Ericsson, Marjan Verstappen and Shye Zhang. She has also studied online with Anna Mason, Sheri Blaukopf, Sian Dudley, and Chrissie and Dave Wysotski. She currently works with ink, coloured pencil and watercolour.

Kay is inspired by the beauty of nature and prefers to work outdoors or from life to capture details and unexpected moments in her work.

Kay has exhibited in shows at the Scarborough Civic Centre, Cedar Ridge Studio Gallery and The Art Guild of Scarborough. Dandelion Greeting, was selected for the 2022 Arthur Show, held at The Clark Centre for the Arts.
