Krystyna Okrasa

Portrait of a Tai Chi Sifu

Portrait of a Tai Chi Sifu, 14 x 11 Pencil

Growing up as the youngest in a sib line of four, Krystyna was surrounded by individuals who pursued diverse careers and who have always cultivated artistic hobbies. It seems she was bound to continue this “family tradition”, by choosing a career path in psychology, while retaining an interest in art, photography, music, and writing.

Once Krystyna retired, she finally had the time and desire to focus on studying drawing and painting methods. Hence, she has taken numerous art courses, kept immersing herself in self studies, and attending ongoing art demos at the Art Guild of Scarborough.

Over the years, Krystyna has been exploring drawing and painting still life, landscapes, animals, and portraits in search of technical proficiency as well as her own style. Soft pastels and pencil have become her favorite mediums, especially when it comes to representational works. However, Krystyna also enjoys using acrylics, particularly when creating abstract paintings.

In the end, she realized that art and psychology have a lot in common. Krystyna wasn’t the first one, as according to H.W. Beecher: “Every artist dips his brush in his soul and paints his own nature into his paintings”.
