Michelle Spear
The Face of Winter, 9 x 12 Graphite
After satisfying her cravings for colour and patterns through needlework and stained glass for 40 years, Michelle Spear has decided to pick up a brush and explore the world of paint, ink and photography. In the summer of 2022, Michelle took a fine arts course at Queens University, and discovered a new avenue of expression. The ability to experiment in both acrylic and watercolour allows her to break through a very rigid expectation of realism and correctness. She is channeling her inner Bob Ross, and embracing her happy little mistakes, that many of her other artistic outlets do not support, and having fun doing so!
As a Contract Specialist with the Toronto District School Board, focusing on technology hardware and software solutions, having an artistic escape from a very technical field is a great source of energy and a huge stress reliever.
A new member to the club in 2022, Michelle enjoys landscapes that evoke the senses. A scene from Tuscany may bring on the scent of sun warmed grapes. A foggy day in a cove off the Atlantic brings to mind the sound of a foghorn.
Michelle is looking forward to learning from her fellow members, and growing as an artist.
