Down by the River

Down by the River, 20 x 16 Acrylic on Gallery Canvas

Mona Trivedi’s art journey began in India at high school and college where she took extra-curricular classes in water colour and oil painting, while working towards a degree specializing in Nutrition.  However, Mona lost touch with painting after she got married and emigrated to Canada, while she concentrated on raising a family and working, first in the nutrition field, before joining her husband’s printing business, doing accounting and administration.

Mona’s interest in art was rekindled a few years ago upon encouragement by her children to start painting again. She began to experiment with various media, including acrylic and mixed media, not only to develop a style of her own, but to revel in the peace and contentment of creativity.

In 2018, Mona joined Ajax Creative Arts club, and one year later, the Art Guild of Scarborough. Her abstract paintings have earned a Special Merit stamp multiple times at the Art Guild of Scarborough and also selected for the Arthur show at Toronto Clarks Centre for the Arts in 2022.

Since March 2019, Mona has participated in several art shows in community centres, Sunnybrook hospital, Lakeridge Health Ajax hospital, as well as online shows, including a fundraising art show by the Rotary club of Bowmanville. In the summer of 2023, Mona had her first solo art show at Ajax Town hall for 6 weeks.

Mona bounces between abstract and realistic painting but she is particularly drawn to abstract art which allows her to express her love of colour on canvas with no limitations, and just enjoying the process, while evolving her style. She believes the joy of painting has a meditative effect on her that is absolutely priceless.
