Nedda Riva Zaharelos
Strawberry Moon, 40 x 30 Acrylic on Gallery Canvas
Enthusiastic upcoming artist: Nedda Riva Zaharelos is an Italian born Canadian that now lives in the Greater Toronto Area.
Her love and study for art and design started at a young age in her native city of Milan and continued in Toronto. Nedda is a 1998 graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design in Sculpture Installation. Recently her new passion has been for painting. Nedda is a self-taught acrylic painter with interests in people, culture and abstraction. Her main objective is always about shape and form embracing the challenge of creating the illusion of depth and space. Her random strokes and the continuous gestures that encompass the canvas create a sense of perspective still with the awareness of composition and balance.
Abstraction and figure drawing are very present in her works. The abstract appears on the canvas with unleashed freedom, freedom from the controlled and pressured environment dictated by her precise work background.
The human person in the paintings is never identifiable. With ‘The Gaze’ away from the viewer, in a private almost hush-hush quiet moment, it is suspended in a reality beyond the imaginary interpreted by experiences.
Nedda is a member of several Artist Collectives; this connection has created the opportunity for her to be awarded and juried into several group exhibitions. The most recent show: “4 art’s Sake” at the Leslie Grove Gallery, April 2021.
