Ramona Ricken

Warden Woods Maple

Warden Woods Maple, 30 x 15 Acrylic on Canvas

Born in Toronto, Ramona was fortunate to be surrounded by the urban beauty of our city within a park and the lush rural landscapes a short drive away. Through the use of acrylics in a variety of application methods, she enjoys sharing these observations and connections to our rural and urban environments.

Various classes and workshops with teachers such as the Toronto School of Art, Tim Gagnon, and the Tim Packer Academy have augmented many hours spent learning to paint on her own. Spending time with fellow GTA area art club members has also been a valuable resource.

Ramona’s education and work life in the printing/prepress industry have enhanced her composition skills. The precision required within this trade tends to show through in her detailed replicas of local landmarks within her streetscapes. As an emerging artist, Ramona often switches back and forth between focused urban paintings and looser landscape paintings and will dabble in various genres as this provides a nice variety of subject matter and skill sets for her.

Ramona’s paintings have been shown at various venues including Artisans At Work, Above Ground Arts Beaches Showcase, DVAC Todmorden Papermill Gallery group shows, SOYRA Aurora Art Shows, Aurora Skylight Gallery, Riverdale Art Show, the Guild Alive with Arts Festival, Whitchurch-Stouffville Art in the Park, the Toronto Public Library and the Art Guild of Scarborough’s Online Show. Selected paintings have been sold to individual clients and have been used at past PaintNite events.
