Artist Statement:
Stephen Albrecht has been experimenting with numerous art styles, generally informally, for twenty years. Along with Acrylic and Latex Impressionism and Abstract art he has also become a certified Sumie artist. Using different media he also does landscape and urban related art, often based on his experiences and what has been captured on his camera.
Colour and texture are the basis in most of his works and often change as the work progresses. The art itself is a journey from what is thought of in the beginning to what it becomes at the end, like writing, leading to the most unexpected places.
Most of his art is done during the summer months when he can spread his materials over a driveway and take over the garage when it’s warm out.
Stephen has been exhibiting with the Canadian Sumie Society for five years and in 2023 had an abstract painting installation at the Deer Park Public Library in Toronto.
